Getting here

From Bangkok to TipThong Hut, step by step

Transport information checked October 2026. Times and prices are indicative and change often, so please confirm locally before you travel.

1. Bangkok to Ban Phe (Rayong)

Buses and minivans run from Bangkok’s Ekkamai (Eastern) bus terminal to Ban Phe in about 3–3.5 hours; some services also leave from Mo Chit, and there are direct minivans from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Bus-and-ferry combination tickets are also sold.

2. Ban Phe to Koh Samet

Ban Phe has several piers about 1 km apart (including Nuan Thip). Ferries reach Na Dan Pier in about 30–45 minutes; the Nuan Thip big boat was 70 THB one way or 120 THB return in October 2026. Shared speedboats take about 10–20 minutes and run roughly from 08:00 until late afternoon.

3. Arriving on Koh Samet

At Na Dan Pier there is a small pier fee (20 THB per person). Koh Samet is a national park: foreign adults pay a 200 THB entry fee (children 100 THB), collected by park officials on the island. Buy tickets only from official park staff.

From Na Dan Pier, TipThong Hut is about 820 m away, a short walk or a quick songthaew (shared pickup taxi) ride towards Sai Kaew Beach.

Island tips

  • The best beach season is roughly October to April.
  • There are ATMs near Na Dan Pier and near the national park booth at Sai Kaew.
  • Plastic bags and foam boxes are not allowed on Koh Samet, so bring a reusable bag.
  • Pack light: island paths are sandy and some are uneven.
